slow...
I have recently started playing guild wars and I have created my character and everything but when I start to load ascalon (I think that is what it is) it downloads at 1-3kb/sec. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Can someone please help me get up and running? Before you ask, yes I do have dial-up but I would think it would go a little faster than this...
thanks |

Its because it has to download all the game files the first time you load every city. I would recommend using the "-image" command and leave GW to load overnight, this will download all the files you need. Im sure someone else can give you more detail on the image command, as i always forget exactly how it works.

Just go to guild wiki and type in search -image it will have a guide on exactly how to do it.

You're lucky if you get 4-5 KB's; I'm a dial up user myself and mostly get 3 max.

If you have a real-life friend who also plays GW, ask him to -image as described above, then use a USB drive or a writable DVD to copy his gw.exe and gw.dat.

I'd see if you can find somebody who has any discs to let you borrow them for install. Technically against the rules but I dont see the harm lol. Most of my waiting time was zapped and it beats image.

Yeah, where I live, it's either dial up or satellite.
Paying 12.95 for a Semi-Laggy game Or paying $400 installation and then 70-80/mo for a Nerd-raging laggy-game. |
